Mullerette's sound is anchored in its unique configuration which echoes the contrasting timbre of a vintage Wurlitzer 200 and a breathy, haunting female vocal. Songs are delivered thru poems, reflections and anthemic solos.
With influences citing Mazzy Star, Feist, Cowboy Junkies and Portishead, Mullerette's melodies are embedded with mature lyrics that deal with adult themes ranging from love affairs to parenting and the duality between inhabiting the daily and the extraordinary.
The Berkeley based duo is the result of a long-standing collaboration between award winner singer songwriter Lupe Muller and keyboardist, producer Joey Muller. The rhythm section, Israel Vela on bass and Mike Stevens on drums, crafts soft atmospheric grooves in which the nocturnal, smoky-bar melodies move through with ease.
The band is currently working on their second album, Meta Thesis, due for release in October 2017. Recorded live at Prairie Sun in Cotati, CA with Grammy winning engineer, Oz Fritz (Tom Waits, Blur, Iggy Pop) the album, self-described as introspective and moody, contains both bare bones ballads and synth full songs.
